Mission statement

The Center for Ecology, Conservation, and Ethnobiology (Pusat Studi Ekologi, Konservasi, dan Etnobiologi) at Universitas Sulawesi Barat is dedicated to advancing biodiversity conservation through integrative ecological research, community-based approaches, and the preservation of traditional knowledge. Our mission is to safeguard Sulawesi’s unique ecosystems and endemic species, with a particular focus on the western region of Sulawesi, by combining scientific innovation with local cultural wisdom and practices. We foster collaborations between academics, policymakers, and local communities to generate impactful knowledge, strengthen conservation capacity, and promote sustainable practices that ensure the resilience of both biodiversity and human livelihoods for future generations.
