Project aims

  • Assess the presence of the species in Ea So Nature Reserve using non-lethal aquatic trapping methods

  • Identify and assess the threats to the species and its habitats in the nature reserve

  • Improve protection through training and awareness raising activities aimed at protected area staff

Results

  • Local management team of Easo Nature Reserve were informed on the status, threats and suitable habitat for the Vietnamese Pond Turtle in Easo Nature Reserve

  • Training conducted for rangers of the Easo Nature Reserve to improve law enforcement

  • Future conservation activities for the Vietnamese Pond Turtle in Easo Nature Reserve were identified, including a breeding programme, release in the wild in identified sites and post-release monitoring
