Ex situ conservation for Giant Asian Pond Turtle and Yellow-headed Temple Turtle in Cambodia

Project aims

Construct enclosures at Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB), suitable for keeping and breeding Giant Asian Pond Turtles and Yellow-headed Temple Turtles

Results

  • The construction of the nine enclosures for adult Giant Asian Pond Turtle and Yellow-headed Temple Turtle to provide individual housing and high standards of care for, in total, nine adult individuals (Giant Asian Pond Turtle and/or Yellow-headed Temple Turtle) confiscated from the illegal trade.

  • The construction of the 12 enclosures for juvenile Giant Asian Pond Turtle and Yellow-headed Temple Turtle to provide single species housing and high standards of care for a total of 120-150 captive-hatched Giant Asian Pond Turtle and/or Yellow-headed Temple Turtle juveniles with a carapace length of 120mm.
