Habitat protection and recovery plan development for the Mesilau Stream Toad

Project aims

With the discovery that the Mesilau Stream Toad is not extinct and continues to survive at Mesilau on Mount Kinabalu and the presence of the species at Mount Trusmadi, phase 2's objectives include:

  • Continue collecting long-term environmental data to determine the parameters required by the toads for their survival

  • Collect data to better understand the long- term patterns of landslides

  • Provide training to local stakeholders to carry out the long-term monitoring of the toads.

  • Conduct a Conservations Need Assessment

  • Conduct further field surveys at Mount Trusmadi
