Population Information

This species has not been seen since two specimens, both adult males, were collected in 1911. Subsequent attempts to locate this fish at the Sermowai River in the 1991, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012 have been unsuccessful (Tustin 2017, G.R. Allen pers. comm. 2019).

Roads have been constructed near the Upper Sermowai and these may have negatively affected the species (G.R. Allen pers. comm. 2019). There are also multiple logging concessions in the area, and invasive species are present (Kadarusman pers. comm. 2019).
