About Us

Cloud Mountain Conservation, officially Dali Biodiversity Conservation and Research Center, was founded in 2015 by a group of zoologists, wildlife photographers, nature educators, and experienced conservationists. We advocate for science, cooperation, trust and sustainability.

Amongst local communities, we encourage public engagement and promote sustainable development through scientific education. In the field, we study and protect flagship wildlife species such as gibbons to preserve the vast biodiversity of the pristine forests in Southwest China.

ASAP Species That We Work On

Our work is mainly focused on the presently un-assessed Skywalker Hoolock Gibbon.

But we also work on the following ASAP species:

What We Do

  •  Carry out routine monitoring of gibbon populations and their habitats;
  • Fill the baseline information on biodiversity in Southwest China;
  • With scientific guidance, use a variety of outreach and volunteer activities to engage locals and the general public in wildlife conservation;
  • Promote anti-poaching campaigns and strengthen law enforcement;
  • Discover alternative livelihood for local communities to reduce their reliance on forest resources.

Where We Work

Gaoligong Mountain, Yunnan, China;
Wuliang Mountain, Yunnan, China;
Yingjiang County, Yunnan, China;
and anywhere in China that shows the promise of undocumented wild gibbon populations.
